**The answer is knotting. Knotting is the technique of tying individual strands of hair into a wig or hairpiece base.**

V-looping is one specific method of knotting, not a synonym for the whole process, and root-turning is an unrelated step that has to do with orienting the cuticle direction of the strands, not attaching them to the base. Fitting is a real term too, but it's about the finished piece sitting on the head, not construction.
