How Should Barbershop Disputes Be Handled?

The answer is in private. Milady's professional-conduct guidelines state directly: deal with all disputes and differences in private, and take care of all problems promptly and to the client's satisfaction.

This is one of a set of client-relations rules in the same passage, which also tells barbers to use tact when dealing with problems and to maintain confidentiality — never discussing other clients or coworkers. Avoiding the topic altogether isn't the same as handling it discreetly; the book calls for prompt, private resolution, not avoidance.
