Thinning and blending shears remove bulk more evenly across the hair, which is a different job entirely. Straight shears do standard cutting with no texturizing at all. Chunking shears stand apart because of their wide, irregular tooth spacing — that's what leaves the deliberately chunky, textured result instead of an even reduction.
